About Us:

The NCBC brings together breastfeeding advocates, health care providers, agencies, individuals, organizations and families to support, protect and promote breastfeeding in the state of North Carolina. Founded in 2005, we provide a forum for development and exchange of resources for families and breastfeeding professionals. Our vision is to ensure that exclusive and continued breastfeeding is the norm in North Carolina.

Our Goals for 2009-2010:

1. Create a sustainable and viable NCBC infrastructure that ensures fiscal sustainability, expands our membership, and creates the capacity to achieve the vision and mission of the NCBC.

2. Secure funding for NCBC.

October, 2005: North Carolina Breastfeeding Coalition established

January, 2006: NCBC represented at the first USBC conference in DC

April, 2006: Website up and running

September, 2006: Bylaws approved

November, 2006: Ban the Bags Toolkit launched
Golden Bow Award Designation established

January, 2008: Ban the Bags poster presentation at USBC conference

February, 2009: Received USBC mini-grant to enhance our website

August, 2009: Received “The Business Case for Breastfeeding” grant
