Golden Bow Award Winners
Eligibility Criteria
In order to earn a Golden Bow Award, maternity facilities must demonstrate that
1. Hospitals must demonstrate that they DO NOT distribute commercial infant formula gift bags. (Removing formula from commercial bags before distribution does not suffice.)
2. All gifts to maternity patients must be free of infant formula advertising of all varieties. (coupons, samples, infant feeding information published by a formula company, etc.)
3. Hospitals may discharge maternity patients with a 24-hour supply of infant formula ONLY if it is left over formula from the baby’s cart and/or is medically indicated by the infant’s health care provider.
4. Hospitals that DO NOT accept free formula from formula companies will be acknowledged with a gold star next to their names on the web-list of Golden Bow Award winners.
5. Facilities that DO NOT distributes any formula at discharge for any reason will be acknowledged with a silver star next to their names on the web-list of Golden Bow Award winners.
Special Praise
· Hospitals that DO NOT accept free formula from formula companies are acknowledged with a gold star next to their names.
· Facilities that do not distribute any formula at discharge for any reason will be acknowledged with a silver star next to their names.
