We are made of health department, hospital and private practice employees aspiring to make our communities Breastfeeding-Friendly. We hope to grow to have city members and citizens in these counties to join us to reach our objectives of: Promoting a positive breastfeeding environment in our communities, developing breastfeeding advocates and resources through education and outreach, providing an evidence-based social media presence to support and inform our families. Our mission is to foster a network of breastfeeding support through education and collaboration with health professionals, advocates and community members. The Guilford County Breastfeeding Alliance

The Guilford County Breastfeeding Alliance is a group of local professionals dedicated to helping breastfeeding mothers with each step in their decision.  The Alliance strives to promote breastfeeding in the area by connecting with fellow breastfeeding advocates, sharing resources, and building bridges with other healthcare providers.  This year we will be celebrating World Breastfeeding Week with our World Breastfeeding Week Extravaganza on August 6, 2015 at the Women’s Hospital in Greensboro.  Starting with a very successful celebration in 2014, we plan to make this an annual event, hosting OB/GYN and pediatric office staff with a luncheon and panel discussions.  This year, staying with the theme, “Breastfeeding and Work: Let’s Make it Work”  with panel discussions, one composed of physicians and the other breastfeeding mothers who have gone back to work and continued to nurse. We will be focusing on the working women’s right to breastfeed and true stories on how to make that happen. In keeping with WABA’s objective of “engaging” we also hope to select breastfeeding champions in the various offices who can be the “go to” person when breastfeeding concerns arise.
