About NCBC


NCBC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization bringing together health care providers, agencies, organizations, individuals, families and other breastfeeding advocates to support, protect and promote breastfeeding in the state of North Carolina. Founded in 2005, we provide a framework for the development and execution of programs to advance breastfeeding support throughout NC. In addition we are a forum for creation and exchange of resources for breastfeeding professionals and families.

To facilitate collaborative community work through education and advocacy that creates an environment of genuine breastfeeding support for all families.

Strategic Goals


  • Goal 1: Serve as North Carolina’s collective voice for breastfeeding families through programming and advocacy
  • Goal 2: Promote evidence-based practices to support breastfeeding in the health care systems in North Carolina
  • Goal 3: Champion workplace support for breastfeeding families in North Carolina
  • Goal 4: Increasing access to lactation support and diversity in the field within North Carolina
  • Goal 5: Build the capacity of North Carolina Breastfeeding Coalition through an atmosphere of inclusion and outreach.




Non-Profit Status


In 2011, NCBC achieved 501(c)(3) non-profit status. Thank you to James L. S. Cobb of Wyrick, Robbins, Yates & Ponton, LLP for his assistance in this endeavor.
